More About YWF
Young, Wild & Free (YWF) is a sport climbing competition for kids. First held in 2012, the series of events ran annually until 2019, and has seen many kids raise their climbing skills in a fun and friendly environment.
YWF is making a comeback in 2025, after a hiatus during the pandemic. We will hold eight (8) legs from February to September, to be held across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. We target to reach over 200 participants, on top of families, school teams, and climbing enthusiasts, who come together to support the next generation of climbers.
Following through on its original mission, YWF aims to provide a safe, supportive and exciting platform for young climbers to test their skills and to discover the fun world of climbing.

The Dream |
Filipinos have been scaling walls since the early 90’s. We’ve had athletes join Asian-level events since 1998, World Cups since 2001, and even won a Gold Medal at the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. However, consistent representation at professional meets has been a challenge. With Sport Climbing’s debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and again lined up in Paris 2024 and LA 2028, interest in the sport has significantly risen globally.
The Philippine Climbing Community is not exempt from this growing excitement; we dream to find our first Filipino Sport Climbing Olympian. Reviving YWF, with a target age group of 15 year olds and below, will help in building this base of young Filipino climbers. |
