YOUNG, WILD & FREE COMPETITION SERIES
Young, Wild & Free is a junior (and occasionally, novice) climbing competition series made for budding new climbers who want to hone their skills with challenging routes. The event has been running annually since 2012, and has seen many kids (and kids-at-heart) push their climbing levels higher and higher through friendly competition.
The Junior Competition age groups follows the International Federation of Sport Climbing's (IFSC) age bracketing, with the intent of simulating the playing field of world-standard sport climbing competitions. The competition format, meanwhile, varies from one event to the next, to introduce participants to a wider base of climbing styles and mental tactic.
Regular participants to the YWF Series include representatives from gyms all over Metro Manila. Teams from the following schools also join on a regular basis: Montessori Integrated School of Antipolo (MISA), Beacon Academy, and International School Manila.
Over the years, it has also garnered the attention of young competitors from outside provinces, who would fly in to Metro Manila just to test and up their skills. As of 2018, we are proud to announce that the first provincial leg of the series was hosted in Iloilo City.
